Fuselage Marking

Moroccan AF roundel
image by Željko Heimer, 11 Jun 2002

The Album 2000 [pay00] shows red roundel bordered green with green pentagram in it topped with yellow stylized crown voided green.
Željko Heimer, 11 Jun 2002

Cochrane and Elliott [cos98] show a green Solomon seal with a gold crown above on red disc, while Wheeler [whe86] shows a gold Solomon seal (inside areas in green). Both are correct: Alkowat al malakiya al jawiya (formed 19 November 1956) uses green seal (red inside) on non-combat planes

and gold seal (green inside) in combat planes Dov Gutterman, 20 Jun 2004

Fin flash

Moroccan AF fin flash

The Album 2000 [pay00] shows red square bordered green and with green pentagram in the middle.
Željko Heimer, 11 Jun 2002

Al Qawwat al Jawwiya al Malakiya Marakishiya (Maroccan Royal Air Force) uses a square variant of the national flag with the star is outlined in gold as fin flash. The source is Wheeler’ book [whe86]. In the photo the gold outline can’t be seen so it is questionable.
Dov Gutterman, 12 Oct 1999

Wheeler [whe86] shows square form of national flag (solomon seal in gold again) as fin flash; Cochrane and Elliott [cos98] show a a national flag as fin flash. Both are correct: Fin flash can be sqare , can be recatangle and can be swift back on part of the rudder as all those photos show.

Pre-1990 markings

Pre-1990’s roundel is similar to the current one — without green border, and with a more complex crown similarly as in the contemporary naval ensign, also with green parts within the arches. The national flag was painted on the fin back then.
